All may be ‘correct’ but danger looms
AN Open Allowance event for three-year-olds and upward runners highlights a 10-race card at Caymanas Park today in the absence of a designated feature race.
The Open Allowance call is set amongst a useful field of sprinters and sprinter stayers, and 12 will run over 1,200 metres for the purse of $845,000. And those positioned best to be around at the business end, based on current form, are the recent winner, Campesino, the consistent All Correct, Traditional Prince, Timeforarms and to a lesser extent Hover Craft.
Franfield, also a lively prospect, is another who possesses good early speed but the sharpness of the anticipated pace of the race may prove just a little taxing.
The Open Allowance call is set at approximately 2:15 pm with first post at 12:10 pm. All Correct is the obvious choice for the event with 55.0kg.
This consistent operator has been fairly active on the exercise track but being from the shrewd stables of the reigning champion trainer Wayne DaCosta the six-year-old dark bay gelded progeny of Storm Craft might be using this race as a prep for other races to come. All Correct has the beating of this group of horses even going this short.
Title-chasing jockey Robert Halledeen who was aboard All Correct two races ago when the Velvet Glove-owned dependable galloper lost narrowly to Franfield returns to the irons and should duly make amends. Campesino and Traditional Prince could prove to be the main adversaries to All Correct as both boast good credentials.
Campesino in his last run going 1,100 metres was seen inching away from his opponents and with an additional 100 metres to travel on this occasion with the emeritus jockey Winston Griffiths still aboard, the 2.0 kgs increased may prove to be a help rather than a hindrance.
Traditional Prince will enter the fray with 56.0 kgs but after some stirring runs against stronger opposition the burden should not deter him from entering the reckoning: especially with the return of jockey Aaron Chatrie to the saddle. It was Chatrie who took him to his last win going 100 metres shorter while beating the fleet of foot Fortuneonehundred.
Timeforarms has trained well enough to be competitive over a distance he has already won against both Hover Craft and Traditional Prince and coming into this race with 55.0 kgs and his winningest rider Omar Walker up, this sometimes stalker could come calling as the tempo wanes in the drive.
