Dexter Pottinger’s new Brother
Dexter ‘3D’ Pottinger is the face of the new Dream Frame, DreamCreator Innov-is VQ2400 sewing machine. The former Saint International model-cum-respected stylist and designer shared in an exclusive fashion conversation with SO on Tuesday morning that Brother had contracted him to be the ambassador for their new sewing machine [a versatile industrial grade quilting and sewing machine built for home-based quilting and sewing enthusiasts with advanced features like the motor-driven foot and smooth, easy pivoting to help you sew faster and quicker; [indeed, up to 1,050 stitches per minute]. In addition, the machine is perfect for embroidery, cut-outs, and prints.
Brother, a major sponsor of the Project Runway design competition, wants more of an inroad in the Caribbean, and as such sought a Jamaican designer who is creative enough to illustrate how the machine really works. “I got the e-mail,” said Pottinger, “that they were searching for a local designer. They had seen my pieces and wanted me on board. They came to Jamaica, I met up with the team and they offered me one of the machines and a few other perks that will be useful for a young designer like myself.”
