Man charged after siblings killed in fire fit to plead
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Phillip McLeod, the man charged with arson and murder in relation to the fire that killed three siblings in Hopeful Village, Kingston 12, is now fit to plea.
When he was first brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court in March of this year, he was remanded for psychiatric evaluation.
The accused was arrested and charged after nine-year-old Abigail Reid, 15-year-old Lenardo Morris, and 18-year-old Bebita Harris, perished in an early morning fire that destroyed their home in March 2015.
Abigail was a student at Iris Gelly Primary School, Lenardo attended Excelsior High, while Harris was a sixth-form student at Tarrant High.
Reports were that residents woke up to screams for help from the house minutes after 1:00 am.
The siblings were reportedly home alone when the incident occurred.
