The second round of the Flow Manning Cup started this week with most of the teams flying out of the blocks. All the games were filled with excitement as each team in each match managed to score, with the lone exception of Jamaica College, who were held to a 0-0 draw with Holy Trinity on Monday.

Wolmer’s managed to beat Vauxhall 2-1 on Thursday. The teams had to play for six minutes as their previous match was rained out in the 84th minute. In that match Vauxhall took the lead in the 26th minute thanks to Tyane Wilson, but Wolmer’s top goal scorer, Alphanso Gooden, equalized before the match was called off. In the remaining six minutes the teams were allowed to play, senior player, Stewart Payne, wrapped up the three points for Wolmer’s in the 89th minute. Wolmer’s are now at the top of their group.

Hydel, who moved to the top of Group I, cruised past Denham Town 3-0 in their match this week. Nicholas Nelson opened the scoring in the 6th minute to give Hydel an early lead. Stephen Barnett then doubled their lead in the 29th minute after snapping up the rebound from a penalty. Nelson scored again before half time to secure the three points for Hydel.

St. Jago stunned Kingston College for the second time this season with a 2-1 win over at Prison Oval. KC previously lost 2-0 in the Walker Cup to St. Jago and seemed determine to rewrite their wrongs. But Ryan Smart of St. Jago banished such hopes with a well converted penalty in the 11th minute. But K.C. refused to give up as Javain Brown provided a lifeline for KC The North Street based school looked like they would not let St. Jago in again, as they denied Ryan Smart from the penalty spot. But KC was finally put to rest three minutes from time, when Hayden Street scored the winner for St. Jago. St. Jago are second in their group, with St. George’s only on top by goal difference.

As for the Super Cup, the urban teams were dominant again as no rural team was able to make it through to the semi-finals. Surprisingly, the semi-finals for the Super Cup is the same as the semi-finals was for the Walker Cup, with JC facing Wolmer’s and St. Jago up against St. George’s.

JC, who drew against Holy Trinity earlier this week, bounced back to defeat Excelsior 2-0 at the National Stadium. JC opened the scoring late on in the match when Jahvain Russell fired one home in the 63rd minute. Donovan Segree then scored a superb volley in the 74th minute to allow JC to progress to the semi-finals.

St. George’s continued on their hot trail this week as they got past Glenmuir 3-2. Glenmuir took the lead very early on with a goal within the first minute of the game from Onando Collier. But Akeem Shelton drew the ‘Light Blues’ levelled in the 10th minute. St. George’s took the lead through Shevon Stewart in the 45th minute, but Glenmuir had a quick response in the 46th minute thanks to Leroy Bryant. But the outstanding Alex Marshall carried St. George’s to the semis with an 80th minute goal.
