DESPITE intermittent showers, Sunday’s grand finals of CB Pan X pulled a massive crowd at its new location — an open field adjacent to the Bank of Jamaica — on the Waterfront in downtown Kingston.

With high-powered performances from dancehall toaster Cham, singers Christopher Martin and Barrington Levy, patrons were served a musical feast.

The CB Pan X, now in its 10th year, recognises the talents of pan chicken men and women across the island. Some 28 finalists competed for cash and business grants, among other prizes.

The finalists were from the top two winners from two regional competitions held in Portmore and Montego Bay.

“Pan Chicken is part of our culture and the men

and women are bold entrepreneurs. At CB, we support entrepreneurship by giving these men and women a platform to showcase and enhance their talent through workshops and training,” Alicia Bogues, brand manager for CB Chicken and Bad Dawg Sausages, told the Jamaica Observer.

“This is a massive build-out and execution, but we are always happy with the finished product. We decided to change the venue this year for more containment and security,” she continued.

Just the mere mention of Cham’s name was enough to send fans into overdrive. He reeled out the hits, including Babylon Bwoy, Heading to the Top, Tun Up, and Whine.

After his performance, Cham explained his delight being a part of the line-up.

“It’s a family-oriented vibe and people here are enjoying themselves. It’s a lot of fun and that’s what we are here for. Let the fans enjoy the music and eat some CB Chicken. I’m happy to have been a part of this,” said Cham.

Martin, who sang his way into the hearts of the teenage girls in the audience, worked up a sweat with songs including I’m a Big Deal, Take My Love, Chill Spot, and Cheaters Prayer.

“I think this event is a wonderful thing because it gives local chefs the chance to showcase their talent and be rewarded for it. I’m just glad to be here,” said Martin.

Prior to the main entertainment package, patrons were treated to many giveaways and participated in various competitions on stage, courtesy of media personality Jennifer ‘Jenny Jenny’ Small, comedians, Dufton Shepherd and Ity and Fancy Cat, and disc jock Nico Bam Bam.

Levy closed the night’s proceedings with a string of his well-known hits, including Here I Come, Living Dangerously, My Woman and Too Experienced.

The winners in the 2015 CB Pan X Grand Finals are:

3rd Place: Jermaine Hayles — Trelawny

2nd Place: Peter Foster –Clarendon

1st Place: Camita Munroe — Kingston & St Andrew
