UWI thrash Tivoli in ill-tempered RSPL clash
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Newly promoted University of the West Indies (UWI) FC thrashed former champions Tivoli Gardens FC 5-2 in Sunday’s ill-tempered Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) clash at the UWI Mona Bowl.
UWI’s Girvon Brown scored a treble, hitting the net in the 48th minute, before following with two strikes inside stoppage time.
Anthony Greenland (35th minute) and Deno Schaffe (45th) scored for the university team in the first half.
Otis Ffriend (2nd minute) and Ranike Anderson (59th) struck for the visitors.
Tivoli’s Christopher Jackson was red-carded in minute 80 and that resulted in a fracas which involved supporters, team officials and players. The disruption caused an approximate 10-minute delay in the encounter.
