Scorpions return after loss to Pride
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Members of the Jamaica Scorpions squad returned to the island Tuesday morning after their 10-wicket loss to hosts Barbados Pride in the first-round WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) match at Kensington Oval.
Head coach Junior Bennett told OBSERVER ONLINE he was “disappointed with the batting” – a serious area of concern for Jamaica’s teams in recent years.
In the first innings, the Scorpions responding to the Pride’s big total of 373, were 181-4 at one point before being dismissed for 189.
Bennett also felt letdown by the lack of penetration from the bowlers on the opening day where the home team closed on 262-2.
Jamaica Scorpions will have to bounce back in short order. They are to host Windward Islands Volcanoes in Round Two action of the PCL at Sabina Park, starting on Friday.
