NY woman pronounced dead at shooting scene later found alive
NEW YORK, United States (AP) — Investigators probing the scene of what they thought was a fatal shooting in New York City made a startling discovery when they found the victim was still alive.
Emergency medical workers responding to a shooting in Queens Thursday morning initially pronounced the 32-year-old woman dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
But police officers heard sounds from the woman and she was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition about an hour later.
Police say the woman may have shot herself.
The shooting is under investigation.
