Wadadah beat Clarks Town in JB Rum Super League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Wadadah FC started the JFF Western Confederation Charley’s JB Rum Super League on a winning note, beating promoted Clarks Town 3-1 in their Zone Two game at the UDC field Saturday afternoon.
Javier Leak scored two goals to lead Wadadah FC.
Salt Marsh United edged former champions Granville FC 1-0 in Falmouth to lead Zone One.
In another game, the first of the double-header at UDC, first-time entrants Reggae Youths of St James earned a point after coming from behind to eke out a 1-1 draw against Beaches Negril.
Ashley Forrest gave Beaches the lead after 18 minutes, but Oshane Russell scored in the 81st minute to register the first goal and point at this level for last season’s St James FA Senior League champions.
In the game between Wadadah and Clarks Town, Peak scored the season’s first double, netting in the 22nd and 53rd minutes. The second was a looping overhead shot from the edge of the 18-yard box that beat the Clarks Town goalkeeper and two defenders.
Ajai Black had given Wadadah the lead after 18 minutes, while Dwayne Brown scored for Clarks Town in the 88th.
At Elleston Wakeland Centre, Marvin Reynolds’ 20th-minute goal gave Salt Marsh a good start, beating two-time champions Granville for the first time in three tries at this level.
