MoBay reclaim top spot in RSPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Montego Bay United reclaimed first place in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) after blanking 10-man FC Reno 2-0 in the Monday Night game at the Montego Bay Complex in Catherine Hall, St James.Monday’s RSPL Result (home team named first):
Dino Williams gave the hosts the advantage when he scored from the penalty spot in the 14 minute. He scored again in the 55th minute to take his tally to 13 goals this season. Reno’s Rondell Morris was handed a red card in the 49th minute.
Montego Bay, last season’s losing finalists, lead the 12-team pack with 33 points, while Reno stay in sixth place on 22 points.
In one of five matches on Sunday, reigning champions Arnett Gardens FC fired in three unanswered first-half goals en route to a 3-1 win over Harbour View FC at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
Leon Strickland scored in the eighth and 20th minutes, and Kemal Malcolm added another goal in the 26th for Arnett Gardens. Nicholas Beckett pulled back a consolation goal for former premier league winners Harbour View in the 70th minute.
Arnett are third in the standings with 29 points, while Harbour View are fifth with 24.
