Music is my life, says D-Rich
DEEJAY D-Rich credits aggressive promotion of his Uprising mixtape for it creating a buzz in dancehall circles.
Two of its songs,
Hold Me andYuh Gone, have benefited most. Videos for both songs, directed by Wayne South, have been released.
“These videos are going to announce my arrival in dancehall in a big way, I am very confident,” said an enthusiastic D-Rich, whose real name is Dwayne Ritchie.
D-Rich grew up in the Mona Commons area of St Andrew. He migrated to the United States over 10 years ago and began recording in 2011.
His best-known song,
When We Roll, ‘ did well on ethnic charts in London.
With the backing of the New Breed label out of the Bronx, New York, D-Rich is aiming for the big time.
“Music is my passion and the passion for music is my life. For me, music was the only way out. I had a talent and I knew I could write, so I just worked on it until I got to this point,” he said.
