‘Really disgraceful indeed!’

Talk Back

JAMAICA Observer online readers have reacted with disgust to the situation in Chesterfield, St Mary, where residents are forced to wade through the Wag Water River daily to get from their community to the Junction main road. Here are some edited comments:

Call out the MP for the area, especially now that election is near! Really disgraceful indeed!Shameful. The PNP has big chat how well Jamaica is doing, passing all the IMF target, yet still they neglect the most important target, the people who have poor or no infrastructure.People, you know who nuh fi vote fa. The PNP only supports dem areas, such as Westmoreland. Everywhere else doesn’t exist if it’s not PNP designate. Dem nuh realise dat dem need di support of everywhere. If it wasn’t true, it would be funny! Women stripping to go to church!Wow! Makes me wonder how many more communities are living stranded like this. I hope someone comes and and gets something done. Phillips just passed the 10th TEST, so maybe there will be some money to fix this! And yet Jamaicans keep voting for these no-good politicians in Jamaica. In fact, they will murder you for those same politicians who don’t even care a damn about them.So wait, where is the MP for this area of St Mary? What about the councillors? Why have these people not pressed their elected officials to build a bridge in the area? What is wrong with people here!I would have been satisfied if the NHT had rallied to the needs of these people instead of purchasing the white elephant Outameni. What an indignity to our people and millions of dollars is carelessly spent each day!…Shame on the Government and Opposition!Truly a disgrace. This is what happens when citizens fail to agitate for better for themselves; they have only themselves to blame for this situation. The more things change, the more they remain the same. Those pictures would suggest that those poor people are back in the early 50s. Wonder if there is electricity over there?Who is the MP for this part of JAMAICA? Madam PM, Is this the SUCCESS we are NOT suppose to stop? It does NOT matter whose party represents this district; it’s a part of JAMAICA. Uno nuh see JAMAICA A PNP KUNTRY?In this day and age? Wow!Wow, 15 years and no bridge? Such neglect, inconsideration and lack of respect for human life. Only in Jamaica where the politicians hold all the power and the electorate is forced to fend for themselves. What you must do is put a video of it on YouTube and tell the world in 2015 the government of Jamaica is making strides.I guess this area of Jamaica is outside of the governance of PNP country!! What a disgrace indeed! YET the PNP want another term in office.@Mack: Politicians don’t care a dam about Jamaicans. Pot a boil, belly full, and SUVs in good condition. Jamaicans can go dead a bush and rotten.Who are the Government representatives in this area? They should be taken to task and denuded of their rights to represent these people. A disgrace! So, who is the MP? Who is the councillor? Shame, shame, shame!Oh my GOD! In this day and age! Poor children… And people actually leave their homes to go put ‘X’ beside anything? Something is very wrong about this situation.Shame on the PNP Government who has been in power most of our years of Independence and continue to waste public funds, while people are living such a sub-human life. Use taxpayers money to fix the social amenities for the people!A compelling story… My congratulations to this reporter and to theJamaica cares not about the quality of life of the majority of its people. The Queen must go! It’s Great Britains fault! They should have built a bridge before Jamaica got Independence.Could it be that this community established itself, knowing that there is no infrastructure? This is sad, indeed; these politicians have no heart.Who is the MP and why is he/she not mentioned in this article? The Government, it appears, can find resources to spice up the Corporate Area for Obama’s visit and resources for the ubiquitous 4WD SUV for the Cabinet, but we continue to treat the “least of these” with utter disdain and contempt. This is nothing more than 19th century existence in a 21st century world.Which is important, some new SUV”s for Government officials or bridge to save the lives of our children? …The PNP, having been in power for almost 30 years, should be ashamed of themselves for the state of this country. And PNP can’t lose inna St Mary. Why these people still voting for them if this is what they are getting? This is 2015, not the 1950’s! Why are the people in Jamaica still subjected to this type of living?

Call out the MP for the area, especially now that election is near! Really disgraceful indeed!

Shameful. The PNP has big chat how well Jamaica is doing, passing all the IMF target, yet still they neglect the most important target, the people who have poor or no infrastructure.

I guess this area of Jamaica is outside of the governance of PNP country!! What a disgrace indeed! YET the PNP want another term in office.

Mack

How is it that any of our political leaders is able to draw a salary when these types of things are happening is beyond me. The lack of shame and the complete lack of a conscience that it must take to be a politician in Jamaica!

Devon Robins

@Mack: Politicians don’t care a dam about Jamaicans. Pot a boil, belly full, and SUVs in good condition. Jamaicans can go dead a bush and rotten.

A compelling story… My congratulations to this reporter and to the
