All set for Extravaganza

All set for Extravaganza

ALL is in place for tomorrow’s Boom GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza at Independence Park in Black River, St Elizabeth.

“It’s all good, we are running right on schedule. We are wrapping up rehearsals and everyone seems to be in their top form, so one can expect 360 degrees in dancehall/reggae presentation,” said promoter/founder GT Taylor.

Over 25 artistes have been confirmed for the 15th staging of ‘Extravaganza’ including perennial favourites Sizzla, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Ninja Man and Cocoa Tea. Popcaan, Freddie McGregor, Leroy Sibbles, Bugle, Vershon and Eek-A-Mouse are also on the bill. Taylor is expecting a record-breaking crowd.

“While it is a stage show, we will be bringing the party vibes. There will be a good mixture of genres ranging from rocksteady to dancehall,” he said.

Due to a family emergency veteran singer Ken Boothe withdrew at the last minute and has been replaced by Sibbles, his rocksteady contemporary.

Between breaks, patrons will be entertained by a number of sound systems including Bass Odyssey, Renaissance, Digital Chris and Taylor’s GT Aggregation.

“We’re looking at where the music is coming from and where it’s going. In the height of the juggling an artiste will perform with the selector; it will have a party vibe, just like the old days,” Taylor said.

Taylor is a member of the St Elizabeth Care Committee. He said this year’s show will again benefit a local charity.
