Clarendon teacher shot dead
CLARENDON, Jamaica – The police are investigating the shooting death of a teacher, Audley Coleman,which occured at Toby Heights, close to Free Town in Central Clarendon, Wednesday morning.
Police report that Coleman, who was in his late fifties, was getting assistance to repair a door, which was damaged during a break-in Tuesday night, when he was shot by someone on the outside.
The shooting occurred at about 9:55 am, police say.
Investigators say that during the house-breaking incident Tuesday night, robbers took items including two laptop computers.
Clarendon’s police chief, Supt Fitz Bailey told OBSERVER ONLINE there was no evidence Coleman was robbed in Wednesday morning’s shooting incident.
“We cannot say the motive was robbery, we have not yet established a motive,” Bailey said.
