18-y-o found with illegal gun on bus sentenced to 5 years

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Eighteen-year-old Dwight Martin was yesterday sentenced to five years at hard labour for illegal possession of firearm in the Gun Court.

Martin was arrested on Sunday, September 20, 2015 during a joint operation between the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) and the Ferry police along the Mandela Highway.

Reports are that about 10:30 pm a public passenger coaster bus was stopped and searched and a 9mm pistol found in the teen’s possession.

He pleaded guilty on Monday, November 16, and was remanded in custody prior to his sentencing on Friday.
