Tuff Gong for silver screen
In commemoration of the reggae king’s 71st anniversary, the Bob Marley Group of Companies will be launching Tuff Gong Pictures.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at the Bob Marley Museum on Hope Road in Kingston. The roll-out is expected over the next three years.
“We have a small niche and there are no local competitors in the market because of how specialised our equipment options are,” said Marie Bruce, general manager of the Bob Marley Group of Companies.
Meanwhile, roots acts Iba Mahr, Kelissa and Jesse Royal have been named this year’s ambassadors and are slated to perform at Marley celebrations on the museum grounds, on February 7 and 8.
There will be the sounding of the abeng and releasing of doves on February 6, the reggae icon’s birthday
Sponsor Red Stripe intends to launch a commemorative bottle as part of the celebrations.
Marley died on May 11, 1982 of cancer. He was 36.
