Cancelled flights as snowstorm hits eastern US
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Norman Manley International Airport (MIA) has advised that due to a severe winter storm accompanied by heavy snowfall in eastern United States flights departing to and arriving from this region may be delayed or cancelled.
In a news release today, NMIA said that the travelling public is strongly encouraged to contact their respective airline directly regarding flight schedules.
They added that flights not destined to the affected region may also be impacted as the airline networks become congested from delays.
Meanwhile, Caribbean Airlines has said that the following flights are now cancelled.
BW011, January 22nd from Montego Bay, Jamaica to John F Kennedy, New York, USA
• BW010, January 23rd from John F Kennedy, New York, USA to Montego Bay, Jamaica
• BW017, January 22nd, from Norman Manley International, Kingston, Jamaica to John F Kennedy, New York, USA
• BW016, January 23rd, from John F Kennedy, New York, USA to Norman Manley International, Kingston, Jamaica
• BW520, January 23rd from Piarco International Airport, Trinidad to Norman Manley International, Kingston, Jamaica
• BW 521, January 23rd from John F Kennedy, New York, USA to Piarco International Airport, Trinidad
Affected customers travelling to/from New York during the period January 22nd – 24th, 2016 will be permitted to change or cancel their reservations without penalty subject to the following conditions:
• Passengers must have a confirmed ticket issued before January 21st, 2016
• Passengers must be booked and ticketed for travel to/from New York (JFK) during the period January 22nd – 24th, 2016
NMIA Airports Limited also said that they are in contact with all airlines and will update arrivals and departures information on their website www.nmia.aero.
