JUTC mechanic, associate face court for larceny
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) mechanic and a former employee are to be tried for simple larceny in the Corporate Area Residents Magistrate’s Court on May 9, following allegations that they stole an oil compressor from the company.
The trial date was set in court last Thursday after the accused men, Bryan Taffe and Devon Sanchez pleaded not guilty.
The court heard that the Taffe, who works at the JUTC Ashenheim Road depot, gave the compressor to Sanchez who was held with it while leaving the compound.
The investigator told the court that on the previous day Taffe had signed for four oil compressors.
However, Taffe’s lawyer told the court that his client had purchased the compressor and has the receipt.
The men’s bail was subsequently extended.
Attorney Akuna Noble is representing Sanchez and Courtney Maxwell is representing Taffe.
