Faulkland face Melbourne in Sandals/ATL Senior League football
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Faulkland FC and Melbourne FC, two of the more exciting teams in the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Senior League, will meet in what is expected to be a competitive first-round game at Jarrett Park today, starting at 3:30 pm.
Both teams are unbeaten so far, winning their first three games and are tied at the top of Zone One on nine points, but Faulkland FC have the more impressive goal difference of nine to Melbourne FC’s four.
The game should have been played on Friday but was brought forward a couple of days as Faulkland FC will be taking part in the final of the Captain’s Bakery and Grill Knockout against Montego Bay United on Sunday.
The game will feature the finesse of Faulkland FC against the more physical Melbourne FC team coming off a big morale boosting display against Montego Bay United in the semi-final of the Knockout.
Melbourne FC rallied from two goals down against the Premier League team to draw level at 2-2 but lost 2-3 and this will no doubt give them the encouragement against Faulkland FC who are unbeaten in league football since last season.
As they have shown in their last two games, Faulkland can be explosive and score goals in bunches, scoring four each in all three games played so far.
They have also allowed three, while Melbourne FC have conceded just one goal in 270 minutes of football while scoring five.
Trevon Allen, who has been consistent over the last four years, will lead the Melbourne FC attack that will include Kamal Smith and Androcle Poyser.
Faulkland FC have one of the best collection of youngsters and Jourdaine Fletcher has scored five goals in the two games he has played, while Radcliff Dawkins has backed him up with three goals and both could give the Melbourne FC defence a lot of work for the full 90 minutes.
