Students thank Corporate Jamaica for renovated lab
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Teachers and students of Our Lady of the Angels Preparatory in Kingston are grateful to parents and officials from Corporate Jamaica, for their recent efforts to renovate and modernise the school’s computer lab.
The centre was officially reopened Monday during a ceremony at the institution.
Teachers said that for months they were concerned about the condition of the lab. However, all of this changed when companies like National Commecial Bank Foundation, J Wray and Nephew, and MC Systems got involved.
“Through their efforts the centre was renovated and several computers were installed,” teachers said.
“The modernised lab creates the opportunity for new approaches to teaching, new material and greater independent learning by students,” Tamara Crooks, president of the school’s Home and School Association said.
Crooks made the comment as she addressed the group of excited students who openly expressed their appreciation for the lab.
“We are more than happy that the lab is now renovated,” said Jaden Howell, head boy at the school.
“Before the lab was renovated students had to take turns using the few computers that were at the centre. Now, thanks to companies like National Commercial Bank Foundation and J Wray and Nephew, we can use more computers in comfort,” said Howell.
Head girl Janelle Williams was equally happy.
“With all the computers now in place and the lab fully operational, I look forward to having computer classes and learning new and exciting things,” said Williams.
Triphina’s Pharmacy was also identified as another sponsor.
