Vassell slams treble to spark Faulkland
MONTEGO BAY, St James – National Youth representative Peter-Lee Vassell scored his first hat-trick of the season to lead Faulkland FC to a 3-0 drubbing of Violet Kickers on Monday at Jarrett Park in the second round of the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Senior League.
Vassell’s goals all came in the first half as his team stretched its run of three straight games without conceding a goal.
Faulkland FC lead Zone One with 18 points from six games, six more than Melbourne FC who have played four games.
Vassell, who was part of the national Under-17 team that just missed qualifying for the FIFA World Cup last year, scored in the 20th, 35th and 44th minutes as he improved to six goals, one more than his teammate Jourdaine Fletcher.
At UDC, Marl Road came from a goal down at half-time to beat Seba FC 3-1, scoring three times in a five-minute period midway the second half.
Junior Malcolm gave Seba FC the lead in the third minute, but Derval Higgins equalised in the 65th and two minutes later Glenroy Williams gave them the lead.
Christoff Young then scored in the 69th minute as Marl Road ran out easy winners.
Tomorrow’s People also extended their perfect win record as they beat Mountain Villa in a Zone Two game at Spot Valley High.
Marcel Whyte scored in the third minute and Leon Irvin had a second in the 10th minute, while Kensil Davis pulled one back in the 27th.
