Pia Mia arrives for YVA
AMERICAN teen popstar Pia Mia will bring her international flavour to the ninth staging of the Youth View Awards (YVA), tonight at the National Indoor Sports Arena, St Andrew, starting at 5:00 pm.
Pia Mia (full name Pia Mia Perez) arrived in the island on Thursday night for a special meet and greet session at the CRU Bar on Lady Musgrave Road in St Andrew.
Originally from Guam, the 19-year-old Pia Mia got attention using social media channels to highlight her musical skills. She has been riding the wave of a slew of hits including 2016’s Do it Again.
The YVA sees local artistes awarded based on fan support.
In a previous interview, Karen Clarke — conceptualiser of the YVA — described the event as “an unbiased voice of the youth of Jamaica and nominations representing data collected from 14 to 24-year-olds islandwide”.
This year’s multiple nominees include Alkaline with seven, Popcaan with six, four for Aidonia and Spice, and two nods for Vybz Kartel.
