Injured Blackwood ruled out of Pride contest

KINGSTON, Jamaica — West Indies batsman Jermaine Blackwood has not recovered in time to make the 13-man Jamaica Scorpions squad for the WICB Professional Cricket League match against Barbados Pride, starting on Friday at Sabina Park.

Blackwood suffered a dislocated right shoulder while fielding on Sunday’s third day of the PCL match against Trinidad & Tobago Red Force at the Sabina venue. He took no further part in the match, and OBSERVER ONLINE understands that up to Wednesday the Jamaican was unable to move his right arm freely.

His teammate Andre McCarthy, who was also injured on Sunday in the Red Force match, has recovered sufficiently and is available. McCarthy sustained a painful blow to the ribcage area while fielding close to the bat.
