Luciano to grace We Are Reggae stage
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Fresh off his Grammy Awards nomination for Best Reggae Album this year, Luciano, ‘The Messenjah’, is set to perform on the We Are Reggae stage this Saturday, February 27, at the Doctor’s Cave Beach in Montego Bay.
Luciano, whose given name is Jepther McClymont, a native of Manchester, has received two Grammy Awards nominations; the first in 2002 for his VP Records’ album A New Day and this year’s Zion Awake. The reggae crooner was awarded the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer on October 15, 2007 in recognition of his contribution to reggae music by the Government of Jamaica. His signature hits, It’s Me Again Jah, One Way Ticket, Sweep Over My Soul, Who Could It Be, as well as his firebrand of Rastafari has raised him to the position of ‘Elder Statesman’.
Luciano is also the consummate performer.
This month’s We Are Reggae unplugged also introduces American R&B/Soul recording artiste and entertainment attorney-at-law Priscilya Marie.
She was signed to Dark Child Production Company along with her gospel group as a teenager, winning the McDonald’s Gospelfest.
Priscilya made her debut as a solo recording artiste in September 2015 with her new EP entitled #NoFilter, which is available online.
Priscilya says her motto in life is “never tell me the sky is the limit, when there are footprints on the moon.”
Doctor Bright will also perform on the We Are Reggae stage on Saturday. Doctor Bright graced the stage of Germany’s SummerJam Festival, toured Scandinavia in 2009, and recently released the track Pretty Jamaica.
“We Are Reggae again invites everyone to feast upon the best in reggae music,” said Apostles of Production partner Peter Lloyd, of the three-man group which includes Patrick Casserly and Orlando Maxwell, founders and owners of the We Are Reggae unplugged concert series.
Since the We Are Reggae series began last April with recording artiste Freddie McGregor, several other acts, including Romain Virgo, Baby Cham, Etana, Richie Spice, Busy Signal, Sizzla Kalonji, Agent Sasco and Lloyd, have graced the stage.
