CHEETAH™ in JAMAICA
CHEETAH™ is making its way across Jamaica. CHEETAH® (Connect to Higher Education Electronic Tools, Application and Help) with the legal name, CHEETAH Toys & More LLC, is a USA-based company with a branch office in Port Antonio, Portland. The company’s President and Founder, Jamaican born and bred Dr. Paulette Trowers, is a sponsor of “RJR Cross Country Invasion”.
“CHEETAH™ has returned home; Jamaica is CHEETAH Country,” Dr. Trowers joked while acknowledging that in the business arena she is often referred to as the “CHEETAH Lady.” We don’t want to be confused with the word “Cheater”, but if there is any cheating, then we are cheating poverty, ignorance, mediocrity, procrastination, excuses and all the negative connotations and “dream snatchers” associated with not valuing education and following one’s dreams.
An alumnae of Ken Wright Primary School and Titchfield High School, Trowers accredited the realization of her dreams, in part, to the strong educational foundation received here in Jamaica. As a result, “chasing your dreams with you” is more than a slogan to this company that provides educational products and the tools to create CHEETAH CUBS&Copy; (Children Understanding the Benefits of School). The tools include proprietary animated characters with complementary books, songs, toys, puzzles, games, applications and the company’s own brand of Google™ Android™ tablets dubbed CHEETAH Tabs&Copy;. CHEETAH™ Tablets are utilized in schools across Jamaica including in the Parishes of Kingston, Portland, St Ann, Mandeville and St. Catherine.
We are encouraging students to dream, and for most, getting a high GSAT score is a dream that can be achieved. As students prepare for GSAT, CHEETAH continues to respond to its civil duty of giving back. For instance, as part of its First Annual Scholarship, 30+ students at Ken Wright Primary are part of the dubbed “GSAT Drill”. As students prepare for High School and the GSAT, CHEETAH is helping to fine tune their knowledge base, application of that knowledge and train in speed and perseverance.
Dr. Trowers is proud of the strategic partnerships and the overall warm Jamaican reception and admitted that “I have been honored in my own country, hometown and among my relatives.” CHEETAH’s products are part of the deliverables for the Diaspora Educational Task Force (DEFT) that was impressed with the tablets and educational contents that often operate in an offline mode. DEFT was the catalyst for endorsements, reviews and partnerships with Jamaica Teacher’s Association, Ministry of Education, E-Learning Corporation of Jamaica, Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy & Mining and the Jamaica Library Services, among others.
We are not only helping students to realize their dreams. “Personally, I have achieved my dream of becoming a mother, lawyer, author, toy developer and songwriter. Now, that my children have passed the worse” (as my mother would say), I am pursuing my dreams of getting my characters and stories animated. “I believe I have the ‘ingredients’ of good work ethics, sacrifice, connections, family support and the gift of time to realize my dreams, if not in my life time then during my children’s life time”, Trowers added.
