#Champs2016: STETHS’ Nigel Ellis takes 100m Class One crown
KINGSTON, Jamaica–Nigel Ellis of St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) reigned supreme in the boys Class One 100-metre at the 106th staging of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium a short while ago.
Ellis who has been in superb form all season, showed class as he clocked a fast 10.18 seconds on his way to victory. Raheem Chambers(10.25s) of St Jago and Jhevaughn Matherson (10.35s) of Kingston College were second and third respectively.
Calabar’s Michael Stephens (10.48s) and Dejour Russell (10.54s) were first and second respectively in the boys Class Two event. Chislon Gordon (10.77s) of Jamaica College was third.
Sachin Dennis of St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) won the boys’ Class Three event in a fast time of 10.90 seconds, just five-hundredths of a second outside the record of 10.85 seconds. Thiea Shea (11.09s) of Wolmer’s was second with Shemar Willis (11.13s) of Papine in third position.
Patrice Moody of Edwin Allen won the girls Class One event in a time of 11.49 seconds in a negative 0.2 metres per second wind ahead of the St Jago pair of Nelda Huggins (11.67s) and Shanice Reid (11.68s).
The Class Three dash was won by Edwin Allen’s Kevona Davis in a time of 11.63 seconds in a negative 0.1 metres per second wind as she blew past Julien Alfred (11.77s) of St Catherine. Shanique Rowe (12.04s) also of Edwin Allen took the bronze.
Sashieka Steele of Holmwood Technical captured the Class Four title in a time of 11.91 seconds ahead of Gabrielle Matthews (12.01s) of Hydel and Bethany Bridge (12.31s) of Edwin Allen.
