Uncle accused of throwing hot food on nephew

KINGSTON, Jamaica — There was laughter in court after a man complained that his uncle “won’t stay away from his pot” and has tried to poison his food.

The accused uncle, Ean Reid, is before the court on a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm following allegations that he poured hot food on his nephew causing injury.

When the case was mentioned in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court last Thursday, the complainant told Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey that he was interfering with him.

“Me ketch him a go inna me pot and a eat out me food, and me go report him already and him throw poison in a mi food,” the complainant told the court.

“If mi did throw poison in a him food him would a drop down and dead,” the accused responded.

Reid added, “My baby mother did gone funeral and left mi fi cook and clean.”

Reid was subsequently warned by the magistrate to stay away from the complainant’s pot and his bail was extended for him to return to court on April 22.
