Molynes ‘B’ score thrilling 46-45 win over Waulgrovians ‘A’ in SVL Major League Netball
MOLYNES United ‘B’ pulled off one of the major upsets by defeating Waulgrovians ‘A’ 46-45 as the 2016 Netball Jamaica/Supreme Ventures Limited Major League competition continued at the Leila Robinson Courts last Saturday.
The Roy Pryce-coached Molynes ‘B’, playing in their first-ever season in the Major League competition, surprised the former many-time champions from the start, and held out in the closing seconds to win the nail-biting match.
Pryce was very elated with the win. “The girls played extremely well, despite Waulgrovians ‘A’ rallying strongly in the closing minutes of the fourth and final quarter; but we managed to hold out in the last few seconds to come out winners.”
Saffon Knight scored 37 goals from 57 attempts, and Odette Harris added nine goals from 15 attempts for Molynes ‘B’, while for Waulgrovians ‘A’, LaDonna Lamonth scored 37 goals from 46 attempts, and Nordia Hanson added eight goals from 12 attempts. The winners led 17-9, 27-23, and 35-32 at the intervals.
In another Major League game, University of Technology (UTech) Knights defeated SKIP 51-24 through shooters Khadijah Williams with 25 goals from 33 attempts, Shenel Riley with 23 from 20, and Shenova Edwards with 13 from 24, while Samantha White got 18 goals from 28 efforts for the losers.
Waulgrovians ‘B’ beat Jetsetters ‘A’ 54-37, with shooters Simone Gordon scoring 48 points from 59 attempts, while Tamoya Henry got six goals from eight efforts. For the losers, Zaudi Green scored 22 goals from 32 attempts, and Annette Miller sank 15 goals from 22 efforts.

Southboro crushed Eden Strikers ‘B’ 60-3; Hagley Park defeated Wolmer’s Cavaliers 28-12; Ocho Rios Magics beat Payne Land 24-9; Tantrum outscored Sports and Games ‘B’ 22-15; Police ‘A’ defeated the Jamaica Defence Force 35-19.
Waterhouse Eagles defeated Upper Camp 26-17; Queens Park cruised past Fresh Approach 35-11; Hampshire defeated Hannah Town 24-14; Eden Strikers ‘A’ got past Rollington Town 17-9; Upper Camp got the better of Jetsetters ‘B’ 17-12.
