McKenzie to visit KSAC Tuesday
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Minister of Local Government and Community Development Desmond McKenzie is expected to kick off his familiarisation tour of the 14 local authorities with a visit to the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation’s (KSAC) monthly council meeting Tuesday morning.
McKenzie’s “Day-in-Council” series is a strategy involving face-to-face dialogue with members of the councils to open up avenues for communications, as well as sources of information for the local authorities.
He will be accompanied by a technical team from his ministry, and will use the tour as an opportunity to outline his vision for local government, as well as address outstanding issues and challenges being experienced by the councils .
McKenzie, a former mayor of Kingston, is no stranger to the KSAC Council, which he chaired from 2002 to 2012.
Tuesday’s meeting will be held at the Council’s head office on Church Street in downtown Kingston.
