Jamaican fencers have last chance
This weekend represents the last chance for Pan-American fencers to secure places at the Olympic Games in continental qualification competitions to be held in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Jamaica’s Tia Symns-Lymn and Alison Miller both have good chances to qualify for the Rio Olympics. The only way they can get that ticket is if they win gold medals in their respective disciplines of Saber and Epee.
This is it! Last chance until 2020, but what is telling about the ladies is that they have both taken gold before against this very same cadre of fencers.
President James McBean remarked: “Let us remember Alison won gold at the Central American and Caribbean Games and Tia Symms-Lymn was PanAmerican champ in Canada. This is a good sign going forward.”
