Fifteen-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta joined many-time champion Philip Feanny’s record of all-time winners in the history of horse racing at Caymanas Park when Dysfunctional easily won the sixth race yesterday.

Starting the day one winner behind, DaCosta joined Feanny on a record of 1,950 winners on the trainers’ all-time list.

Dysfunctional picked up the lead just turning for home and cruised home to win easily by five-and-a-half lengths overBay Commander under Robert Halledeen, andDusseldorf with Shane Ellis astride over 1,500 metres in a maiden condition race for native-bred three-year-olds. The winning time was 1:33:3 minutes.

The victory was DaCosta’s 25th on the 2016 racing calendar.

“It is a really great feeling to equal the record of all-time winners. I have never thought that I would equal Feanny’s record, but I am happy,” DaCosta told the

Jamaica Observer.

Meanwhile, there were a double disqualification of horses after the running of eighth race which saw the fall of two riders — Natalie Berger and Oneil Mullings.

Gary Glitter, under Rayan Wilson, won the event ahead ofNolan Hill, partnered by Dane Nelson, andPoison Gas with Hakeen Pottinger in the saddle over 1,000 metres round.

After a lengthy steward’s inquiry,

Gary Glitter andPoison Gas were disqualified and placed out of the race for causing interference toDancing Queen (Oneil Mullings) approaching the half mile, andMiss Myrtle (Natalie Berger) shortly after the start.

Nolan Hill was then awarded first place, withAfrica under Dane Dawkins promoted to second andAnother Fury (O’Brien White up) getting third.

Also on the day,

Dwayne Star, under Nelson, powered home to win the top-rated Overnight Allowance event by three-and-a-half lengths in a time of 58.2 seconds for 1,000 metres straight.
