UPDATE: Police High Command launches probe in cop’s killing
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The High Command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) say that a “top-level” probe has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a police constable in White River, Ocho Rios, St Ann, yesterday.
Dead is 30-year-old Shane Francis who was assigned to the St Ann Division.

Reports are that about 11:30 pm, Francis was at a party at White River, in the parish when he and another man allegedly got into an altercation. Explosions were heard and it was later discovered that Francis was shot, the Corporate Communications Unit of the JCF said in a report.

Francis was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In the meantime, the Police High Command is expressing condolences to the family and colleagues of the slain policeman and has offered the support of the JCF Chaplaincy Services Branch, which has been tasked with providing counselling.
