Expo exceeds expectations — JMA
Following the successful staging of Expo Jamaica 2016, event co-organiser Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA) is reporting that exhibitors have secured leads in China, The Bahamas and the United States.
Executive director of the JMA, Imega Breese McNab, in an interview with the
Jamaica Observer, said the event met its target of over 20,000 consumers. She noted that while official reports are not in, manufacturers have expressed confidence about seeing an increase in demand for their products.
“We have reports for orders from China, The Bahamas, USA for containers. Aside from that, a number of the exhibitors have indicated that they were able to recover the cost of being at this show over the four days,” she told the Caribbean Business Report.
“Another comment that we got was the expo far exceeded their expectations from both the buyers’ standpoint [and] the number of consumers they were able to interface with, as well as the media. One person said they did three TV interviews and 10 radio interviews, and that’s something they would not have been able to pay for, so overall it was a successful event,” Breese McNab continued.
Expo Jamaica is a biennial event aimed at showcasing the very best of Jamaican-made products to local and international consumers. It is jointly staged by the Jamaica Exporters’ Association (JEA) and the JMA.
The Jamaica Promotions Corporation (Jampro) also provides support for the event.
