IDT issues restraining order to Petrojam workers
KINGSTON, Jamaica –The Industrial Disputes Tribunal (IDT) has issued a Restraining Order to workers of Petrojam Limited, who are represented by the Petroleum Workers’ Association, an affiliate of the Union of Clerical, Administrative & Supervisory Employees.
The Order to Refrain from Industrial Action states that “industrial action which is threatened in contemplation or furtherance of the aforesaid industrial dispute shall not take place.”
A 72-hour notice of industrial action had been issued by the union to Petrojam Limited, following which an emergency conciliation meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour and Social on Friday (April 22).
Following a refusal by the Petroleum Workers’ Association to withdraw the strike notice, the matter was referred to the IDT.
