Burnt culvert leaves rural St Andrew road impassable
ST ANDREW, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that the roadway from Nolan Hill to Border in St Andrew is now impassable. The corridor is the major link to the communities of Lawrence Tavern, Mount Ogle and Border in rural St Andrew.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that a section of the road today collapsed following a bush fire in the community of Mount Ogle. The fire burnt the plastic culvert which forms part of the drainage system beneath the road.
People wishing to travel beyond Mount Ogle are being advised to use Hambug Lane, which is in the vicinity of the collapsed road. Motorists are being advised to exercise extreme caution in using the detour as sections are narrow.
