Woman destined for London nabbed with cocaine at NMIA
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A Jamaican woman was arrested on suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, on Sunday.
Reports from the police are that about 4:15 pm, a team was conducting security checks in the departure hall on passengers waiting to board a flight destined for London, England.
During the process, the female passenger’s luggage was searched and two packages containing approximately 2.5 pounds of cocaine — which has a street value of just over J$1 million — were found.
She was subsequently arrested.
The police say arrangements are now being made for her to be questioned in the presence of her attorneys, after which she should be formally charged.
