CALIFORNIA, United States — There is still belief deep inside the Reggae Boyz, even as it appears a task too great for them to overcome arguably the most dominant team in world football at the moment.

With a perfect win record of eight since Juan Carlos Osorio took charge of El Tri, to stretch their unbeaten streak to 20 games, the longest current active streak, Mexico are indeed red hot.

But true to the nature of this great Caribbean island, which has produced numerous world beaters, the Reggae Boyz, while respectful of their opponents, hold absolutely no fear. They just hope they will be able to execute a better game plan than they did against Venezuela in their opening 0-1 loss in Chicago on Sunday.

“I think we play better when we play against bigger opponents and I think all the guys are going to be ready, and in games like these you don’t have to motivate the guys, and once we stick to our game plan and play together, I think we should be able to have a good game,” noted goalkeeper Andre Blake.

For striker Clayton Donaldson, Mexico will pose a very serious challenge, but like Blake, he believes that once the players adhere to the game plan, exercise some patience and are ready and alert to strike on the break, then they could create an upset.

“It will be a difficult game. I think Mexico like to play possession football, so I think they will have majority of the ball, but hopefully we can try to make sure they have majority of the ball in defensive areas where we can capitalise on any mistakes,” he said.

He added: “I think it is going to be a game of patience, because they like to slow the game down, so we have to be very patient and try to catch them by surprise and break quickly. We lost the first game, so this game we need to try to go for it a little bit because three points are massive and we want to stay in there. We’ve got a game plan and hopefully we can execute that game plan and if we do we will cause Mexico problems,” he assured.

Meanwhile, Blake, who pulled off a miraculous save against Wuilker Angel on Sunday, thought Jamaica were unlucky in their 0-1 loss to Venezuela.

“The game against Venezuela was a good game, but for me I’m not pleased because I think we were a bit unlucky and we didn’t get the result that we all desired.”

And the Philadelphia Union number one, though quite pleased with his performance to date, believes that he can take his game to another level.

“I’m very pleased with my performance thus far; there is still another level where I think I can go and I’m having a great moment of my career just now, which I hope will last for as long as I’m still playing, and I’m going to continue working hard and doing whatever I can to make my country successful,” said the man who recently made a penalty save against Brazilian great Kaka.
