PNP regrets passing of former Mayor Rickman Thomas

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People’s National Party today expressed condolences to the family and friends of former Mayor of Port Antonio Rickman Thomas, who passed away peacefully this morning.

The PNP said in a news release that Thomas gave sterling service to the people of Portland as councillor for the St Margaret’s Bay Division between 1986 and 2008, and as mayor of Port Antonio and chairman of the Portland Parish Council from 1998-2003.

Party President Portia Simpson Miller hailed him as a “champion of the people, tireless worker and man for all seasons”.

She said he will be sadly missed, especially by the people in the St Margaret’s Bay Division, but his work will be immortal.
