Guyana man kills wife and son, chops mother
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — Guyana police have detained a man after he allegedly chopped to death his wife and two year-old son early Friday.
Police said that Gocool Danesh was shot during the arrest and is now under police guard at the West Demerara Hospital.
He is alleged to have brutally chopped 32-year-old Vanessa Sukram and her two-year-old son, Joel to death while also severing one of the hands of his mother at their Crane Housing Scheme home.
Media reports said that the mayhem started after Suresh requested breakfast from his mother who lives nearby. When she brought the meal, he allegedly used a cutlass to deal her several chops including to her hand.
The man then turned the murder weapon on his child and Vanessa. They died on the spot.
The Guyana-based online publication, NEWS SOURCE, said that neighbours had repeatedly advised the wife to get out of the abusive relationship with the man but never listened.
“It’s a deep shock, we tried numerous times to get her out of a situation that we didn’t think was healthy for her. Unfortunately we can’t control her mind but we never expected that this guy would do this,” a male cousin told reporters outside the West Demerara Regional Hospital on Friday.
