The selection committee of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) will on Thursday decide whether global sprint superstar Usain Bolt will be entered in both the 100m and 200m events at the Rio Olympics after he pulled out of the Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships on Friday night with a hamstring injury.

Dr Warren Blake, president of the JAAA, and track and field team manager Ludlow Watts both told the Jamaica Observer yesterday that the committee would be meeting Thursday to decide the team that would represent Jamaica at the Olympic Games set to get underway on August 5.

Bolt, who will be seeking to win a third consecutive triple gold medal in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relays, pulled out of the 100m final after the semi-final on Friday and is expected to be on his way to Europe to see his doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller Wohlfahrt.

Dr Blake confirmed that Bolt had requested a medical exemption “for the rest of the meet” when he pulled out on Friday and both men were hoping Bolt would recover in time for the London meet on July 22.

While the athlete has the second fastest time in the 100m in the world so far this year after he ran 9.88 seconds to win at the Racers Grand Prix last month, he has not run a 200m race so far this season.
