Motorcyclist charged after passenger opens gunfire on police
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – A man is now in police custody following the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Old Harbour, St Catherine, yesterday.
He is 48-year-old Michael Morgan, a farmer of Chateau district in Clarendon.
Morgan has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
Reports are that about 10:50 pm, a police team was on patrol when they attempted to accost two men on a motorcycle.
In an attempt to escape, the pillion passenger allegedly pulled a firearm and opened gunfire at the lawmen.
The driver of the motorcycle lost control and both men fell from the vehicle.
The passenger managed to escape on foot, however, the driver was held and searched and a Hi-Point .45 semi-automatic pistol with five rounds was reportedly seized.
