Its #ZlatanTime at Manchester United as the 34-year-old Swedish striker put pen to paper and signed a one-year deal with Jose Mourinho’s team. Ibrahimovic, who recently retired from the national team after an unsuccessful run at Euro 2016, was heavily linked with a reunion with former Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho at Manchester United but an official confirmation had yet to be confirmed up until last week and it is expected the enigmatic forward will have a huge influence at Old Trafford.
“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United and I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League. It goes without saying that I cannot wait to work with Jose Mourinho once again. He is a fantastic manager and I am ready for this new and exciting challenge.” He told British media.
Chelsea win race for Batshuayi
Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi will wear the No. 23 at Stamford Bridge next season after recently signing for the four-time Premier League champions from Marseille. The 22-year-old scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 last season in 36 appearances. He takes over the shirt that was worn by the departed Juan Cuadrado.
Mkhitaryan bid agreed by Borussia Dortmund
Manchester United could be about to make another marquee signing of this summer transfer window after reports suggest that both clubs have agreed a fee for the Armenian captain. Mkhitaryan, who is out of contract next summer, is expected to have his medical this week as well as agree personal terms.
Dortmund’s chief executive confirmed that a deal had been agreed by stating “Had we refused it, the player would be available for free in 2017.”
Robin eyes move back to Premier League
Look out Arsenal fans, former Gunner Robin Van Persie wants a move back to the EPL just 12 months after his move to Fernerbace from Manchester United. It is believed that the Dutch international wants a move away from the Turkish club and it is rumored that Crystal Palace and West Ham are interested in signing him. RVP allegedly wants a move to London which makes either of these destinations a possibility.
Leicester’s new signing the signal for Kante exit?
Premier League Champions Leicester City have completed the signing of 24-year-old Nampalys Mendy from Nice in Ligue 1. It is understood that Leicester paid a fee in the region of £10 million for the midfielder. The signing of Mendy could be as a result for the likely fact that star man N’Golo Kante could be on his way out of the club, with a rumored move to Chelsea is set to be confirmed.
No love for Juan from Mourinho
It is no surprise that Spain midfielder Juan Mata’s place at Manchester United is under scrutiny as new manager Jose Mourinho has never really fancied the diminutive midfielder. Having sold him previously as manager at Chelsea, Mourinho seems set to offload Mata once again. Given the impending arrival of Dortmund talisman Mkhitaryan, Mata’s position at the football club now seems untenable.
