Junior golfers finish 2nd in Barbados
KINGSTON, Jamaica – On today’s final day of the 54-hole Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship, Jamaica secured second place behind defending champions Puerto Rico at Barbados Golf Club.
Sebert Walker Jr, who placed 10th in the tournament overall and third in the Boys’ Under-15, and Justin Burrowes, who came 5th in the same age group category, gave creditable performances.
In the Girls’ Under-17s, Tiana Cruz placed second, while Kei Harris placed sixth. Hannah Foster pulled off Jamaica’s only win, taking the Girls’ Under-15 category, and tying for 12th place overall with teammate Tiana Cruz.
This performance tops the Jamaicans’ fourth place in 2015.
“I’m very proud of the team. It’s the best result we’ve had in a very, very long time. The players worked hard and were diligent,” said Coach Jason Lopez said.
“We had a great time over here, the team spirit was wonderful. We’re looking forward to improving on this performance, and winning the tournament next year.”
