JPS working to restore electricity
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has confirmed that the entire island is now experiencing a power outage and that they are currently working to restore electricity.
According to their Twitter account, the cause of the outage is unclear but power is expected to be restored to everyone within the next two to three hours.
“We have started to restore power supply to customers, following the all-island outage. We will continue to keep you updated as we make progress,” the company said on Twitter.
Meanwhile, the police have advised the public to be very cautious and to drive carefully on the roads, especially when approaching major intersections. They have also urged residents to remain inside their homes as much as possible until electricity is restored.
Police say that personnel have been deployed in their numbers to assist where necessary and the public is to look out for the blue flashing lights.
