Audrey Marks back as US ambassador
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Paymaster Chairman Audrey Marks has been appointed Ambassador to the United States, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade has announced.
Marks has also been appointed Permanent Representative to the Organisation of American States (OAS).
“Ambassador Marks brings to the post a wealth of experience in diplomacy, in business and in philanthropy. I am confident that she will continue to build upon the excellent relations we have enjoyed with our major trading and economic partner, and to which she has contributed immensely during a prior tour of duty in that jurisdiction,” Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson-Smith said in a ministry release early Friday.
Marks, who has had an active career in the private sector, served a two-year stint as Jamaica’s Ambassador to the US in 2010.
She is expected to assume her duties in the coming week.
