3 suspects in drugs-for-guns trade arrested
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The police yesterday arrested three St Catherine men who they suspect were involved in preparing ganja as part of the drugs-for-guns trade.
The men, who the police have not identified, were held during a snap operation by members of the Narcotics Division which was carried out between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm in Bushy Park, St Catherine.
The lawmen reported that 71 pounds of loose ganja, a hydraulic jack, one compressor, masking tape and other wrapping paraphernalia were found.
The illicit drug is suspected to have been part of the drugs-for-guns trade and has an estimated street value of JMD $568,000, the police said.
The men are to be interviewed in the presence of their attorneys and thereafter, formal charges will be laid.
