Police say child shot in March Pen Road area not dead
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The police are reporting that a child that was this afternoon shot in the March Pen Road area of St Catherine, is not dead but has been hospitalised.
In a short news release Wednesday, the police’s Corporate Communications Unit did not offer any further details but said more information would be provided later.
However, OBSERVER ONLINE has learnt that the child, who is about six years old, was shot during an alleged exchange of gunfire between the police and a person of interest known to the lawmen.
The incident, which sparked protest action in the area, reportedly occurred some time before 4:00 pm.
