FIFTEEN HORSES CLAIMED

The claiming box was very active on Wednesday last as 15 horses were claimed on the nine-race programme at Caymanas Park.

Our Creation, who finished in last position as the 3-5 favourite in the third race, was claimed from Errol Waugh by Michael Beecham acting as both trainer and owner for $350,000.

Denrick Chambers claimed Fiftyonestorm for himself for $250,000 from Marlon Anderson; George Edwards took Sink The Bismarck for himself from Victor Williams for $250,000; Albert Chong claimed Eternal Joy from Anthony Nunes for $210,000 for The Real Lucky Star; Andrew McDonald claimed Da Jackal for himself for $250,000 from Michael McIntosh; Paul Smith lost Aquilo for $230,000 to Johnny Wilmot for Carlton Watson; the Dennis Lee-trained Reign Over All was claimed by Anthony Smith for Mr JPS for $250,000; Norman Rose took Reggae Gold for himself for $250,000 from Michael Marlowe, and Donovan Plummer claimed Winesha for Pink Alaina for $250,000 from the fourth race.

In the final event on a $180,000 claiming tag, Onefineafternoon was claimed from Dennis Thwaites by Phillip Lee for Paul Williams; Rashaida was taken from Conroy Tulloch by Fitzgerald Richards for Colla; Paper N Lace was claimed from Paul Charlton by Errol Waugh acting as both trainer and owner; Batidor De Mundo was claimed from Stedman Curtis by Anthony Nunes for Stephan Narinesingh; Tropicaldepression was claimed by Delroy Wisdom for Phillip Edwards from Paul Smith, and Blessedness was claimed by Steven Todd for himself from Victor Williams.

A RARE WINNER FOR RICARDO DUHANEY

The rarely used rider Ricardo Duhaney notched his first winner for the season when he booted home Teisha’s Dream, trained by Ray Phillips, to a 11-1 upset in the sixth race.

Owned by Junior Golding, Teisha’s Dream, running out of the number seven post, made all convincingly to win easily in the Restricted Allowance event for native-bred five-year-olds and upward non-winners of two over 1,000 metres straight. The winning time was 1:00.1 minutes.

It was Duhaney’s sixth ride for the season and the young man was grateful for the win.

“I haven’t had a winner since June of last year and to win now is just good. It is a very great feeling coming off the mark again…truly a wonderful feeling.

“It has been very difficult to secure rides as the trainers are going for the apprentices with the weight claims, and for me to get a ride and make full use of the opportunity is just wonderful,” Duhaney told the Complete Racing Guide.

VALLEY OF THE CATS

A disqualified winner on last, Valley Of Cats made no mistake this time around and romped home easily in the Donald Tankoy Memorial Cup feature at Caymanas Park on Wednesday.

Bred, owned and trained by Carl Anderson, Valley Of The Cats, under Javaniel Patterson, won the maiden condition race for native-bred three-year-old fillies over 1,300 metres by one-and-a-half lengths.

Memory Of TS (Linton Steadman) was second and Reassurance (Bebeto Harvey) was third in a final time of 1:21.0 minutes.
