Two nabbed attempting to export ganja
KINGSTON, Jamaica – An aviation services employee and a security officer were arrested for suspected breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act on Tuesday, by members of the Border Security Branch.
According to the communication arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), the two were arrested about 1:25 pm when officers intercepted a shipment of fifty boxes — which was consigned by a London-based company — at the Kingston branch of the aviation services company.
The boxes were searched and two of them were found to contain five packages of compressed ganja weighing approximately 15 pounds. The drug has an estimated street value of J$120,000.
The police say investigations pointed to the involvement of the two, and they were arrested. They remain in custody as investigators continue to probe the matter.
