MUIR CONTINUES GOOD FORM OVERSEAS
Jamaican jockey Shamaree Muir continued to enjoy good form when he guided the Tom Rycroft-conditioned Saveitforarainyday to victory in the CAN$50,000 Sturgeon River Stakes in fine style at Northlands Park in Edmonton, Canada last Saturday.
Eight of the 12 races offered on the day were Stakes races and Muir made sure he went home with a trophy, his third Stakes race in Canada in his first season. Fellow Jamaican Dane Nelson, who had secured eight rides, was winless.
“Winning races on the international scene is always going to be good for the development of any local riders. I am here just making full use of this opportunity given to me to the best of my ability.
“I just want to win races, as many as I can. The experience is good and I am learning each day,” Muir told the Complete Racing Guide.
